We Held Three Occupational Therapy Trainings for the Special Educators

With the idea to bring capacity building closer to the social professionals, the our project team organized three trainings on “Occupational Therapy in School Setting” for special educators, pedagogues, psychologists and other specializations in schools for rehabilitation and education of students with special educational needs. The trainings were held by the trainer Stojan Andonov, with over 40 years of experience in rehabilitation and health care, and Maria Marinakou, project Team Leader and expert more than 25 years of professional experience in training and capacity building in the areas of social inclusion / disability / activation/ social work /social services and design of social policies.

The first training was held at the high school DSU “St. Naum Ohridski ”- Skopje on October 14^th 2021, with focus on methods and tools of occupational therapy related to “Soft and Personal Skills” and relevant to professional orientation for adolescence students with disabilities. More than 30 professionals attended the plenary presentations and actively participated in exercises for development of personal or group plans for skills building.

The second training, with 38 special educators participating, took place OURC “Dr. Zlatan Sremec “- Skopje on October 21^st 2021. The training focused on methods and tools of occupational therapy for enhancement of “Daily Life Skills” relevant also to building capacities of social skills for primary school students with disabilities.

The enhancement of “Daily Life Skills” relevant also to building capacities of social skills for primary school students with disabilities was also the focus of the third training on November 2^nd 2021. The training held in premises of the OURC “Idnina” in Skopje, was attended by 40 special educators from the school and their 15 guests and colleagues from special school POU ′′St. Kliment Ohridski′′ from Novo Selo, Strumica. The special educators attended the plenary presentations and participated in practical exercises on development of personal or group plans for indoor, outdoor and family strengthening activities.

The series of trainings for special educators continues in November with two more trainings in UORC “Maca Ovcarova” in Veles and OURC “Koco Racin” in Bitola.
